A Tutorial X's 2!

This post is a two-fold tutorial:

1. An easy copy/transfer method

2. A personalized canvas

This canvas is from a project wall in my dining room(reveal coming soon). 

I printed off several "R" 's in different fonts and sizes. 

I settled on A Font with Serif's. One of the main reasons was because it was thick enough to trace and fill in. 

The wreath art I got here. 

Turn your art over and shade over the back of the image with the side of a pencil. Press pretty hard - the darker the better. 

Turn your art work over and position it where you want it. I chose to offset mine in the corner of the canvas for a little added interest. 

With your pencil, trace over the entire picture, pressing as hard as you can. 

I was left with a faint outline!

With a very fine brush and some acrylic craft paint, I free-handed over the outline. 

After the wreath dried, I repeated the steps to add the "R"!

Embrace the imperfections! 

 The free-hand look is what I love the most about it!

Recovery Complete

The fabric I ordered for my kitchen chairs came in last week. In true "Cook Fashion", Mom and I had the chairs recovered by lunch the next day. Well, mainly Mom recovered(though I have done it before) and I ensured that no children were stapled in the process.

I was happily surprised to find that though the fabric was laminated,
 it was about the same thickness as a normal cotton!

Actually only 3 years old. This is mom's 3rd fabric on the table.

#1 Unscrew the chair pads.

#2 Position fabric and start stapling to back of pad! Pull it tight on 2 opposite side and then begin to work on the corners. Because the fabric was laminated it took a few more staples then normal.

 #3 Hammer the staples gently to ensure they are attached.

 #4 Trim extra fabric 



Time to add fabric #4!

  #5 Re-attach chair pads!



I am loving the end result! Bright and Cheery!... And wipable!!!!



The Gift That Keeps On Giving

My bestie's birthday was earlier this month...

After picking my brain, I came up with a gift she can actually USE!



A few pots...




Decorate with a paint pen and some twine




Add some fresh herbs



There is nothing better then paying the same amount for an entire plant then for a few springs that will wilt within the week! And even better then that is knowing that all you have to do is step on your back porch and snip a litle when you need it. Hope you enjoy cooking with the fresh herbs friend!

How To Spackle A Hole

There was a huge towel bar in our first floor powder room.

It really wasn't necessary since all that needed was a hand towel.

When we removed it before painting the room, there were several ugly holes in the wall.

My mom gifted me with many do it yourself tricks - One of which is spackling a hole.

Here is a quick run through...

Purchase your spackle... Only a few bucks and can be found at even Walmart or Target.

Glop it on with your fingers and press it into the holes.

Take a damp papertowel and do a quick, low pressure wipe across to clean off the excess.

Don't press too hard.

You can sand it down if you would like it a bit smoother.

We just painted right over it with our new wall color and you don't even notice it!

Go forth and fill all those holes that you strategically covered with frames!

(Now, I need to go to town with that spackle in my girls room. Hung some branches and left about 20 holes! :)
