its all for the babe...

i had a scheduled check-up with my doctor on thursday - it was supposed to be for my 18 week ultrasound, but since we had needed an ultrasound the day before and already discovered we are expecting a baby girl there was no need for that. the doctor we had visited at the hospital the day before wanted me to keep my appointment and touch base with my doctor.

my doctor is very laid back in general so when she came in and set down my chart on the table and sat down without asking how i was i knew she wasn't happy. "im beginning to be concerned," was how she began the conversation. i was relieved in a sense because it revealed a concerned side i had never seen and was glad to know existed... she shared with me that i was now officially at risk for pre-term labor and while she couldn't tell me how the rest of the pregnancy was going to go for sure, she believed that chances were it will be much like the past 3 weeks. "you could end up needing 100 ultrasounds this pregnancy." i was told not to lift. i was told to rest... and then i had to tell her(for the first time) that i was leaving for vacation as soon as our visit was over...

"where are you going?" "who is going?" "what are you planning to do?"... all followed with strict instructions to go straight to the hospital if i had any of the struggles of the last few weeks. she was not happy. she did not tell me to have a good time. :( i called my parents after the visit to update them(they were already on the road to destin) and i was given more strict instructions by them to pick up a wheelchair on the way out of town. after discussing it with blake, we decided it might not be a bad idea for trips to the mall and out after what has already been a long day(at beach or pool).

made my first trip in it last night. plan on ditching it as soon as we return home and i am able to see my doctor if i have issues. but its all for my daughter...

Lydia,

I won't lie. It is going to be a very hard struggle. You feel decent and forget to obey the rules. You MUST listen. You are blessed by your family being there to help. Let them. You really don't want bed rest for the remainder of the time. Take time for yourself. NO, make time for yourself. The outcome more than compensates for the hardship now. You can do it girl.
