Half of Week 2 Down!!!

Here is an update from our 2nd week, thus far:

Sunday night, our beautiful, sweet little girl decided that she was not tired and spent almost the entire night awake... I sat up much of the time with her because Blake went back to work on Monday. Poor Blake... With my hormones finally figuring out that Riley was no longer inside of me(and lack of sleep), he had to pack us all up at 8.15 to go to Mom's. Will, Riley, and myself were all in tears(I don't know why) so my parents kindly took the 3 of us in for the day. :) To top it all off, my stitches have not healed well and I have had to spend the entire day in the recliner on my waffle pillow. My parents are a God-send!

Tuesday we visited with mom and dad again... Will spent much of the morning outside swimming and playing in the yard, while I, once again, sat on my waffle pillow! :) Riley did beautifully and actually ate and slept on a fairly organized schedule!

Blake took the day off today! Today is our first real day home alone with 2 children! As of this afternoon, the day has gone well... We went to Target and Chick fil a! Then Blake took Will swimming to wear him out before his nap - Riley and I enjoyed the beautiful day lounging under an umbrella, watching them. Only half of the day has passed, but I think that both of us feel fairly successful! The absolute sense of terror has faded... :)
The 2 Most Important Things We Have Learned About Riley:
1. She hates to sleep in her own bed and much prefers mom and dad's! - We discovered this on only her second night when the nursery kept bringing her to me saying she was hungry. Before I could even begin to feed, she was already asleep in my arms. (SIGH!!!)

2. Riley is already a little bit of a priss! :) She can not stand to have a dirty diaper. If she is crying, you try to feed first and if that doesn't work, the you change her diaper. Our little girl doesn't like to be dirty. Like mother, like daughter...

She's just beautiful Lydia! Congratulations! Don't you just love that waffle pillow? I would seriously carry it into restaurants with me for the first few weeks!

You are VERY blessed to have family (and Jessica) who live so close who can come help. I'll be praying for you, those first few months are the most physically and mentally exhausting

Try to get some sleep!

Lydia...please know that you are not alone with the waffle pillow. I sat on that thing for about two months after delivering Kendall. (I didn't think L&D was all that bad...it was the recovery that ate my lunch!) Anyway...hang in there! Just know if you need to exchange stories...there are others of us out here who feel your pain! LITERALLY!!!

Riley is a beautiful baby!

HI Lydia. Everyone seems to know what a waffle pillow is but me. Guess I missed the memo on that one. ;)
Aren't post labor hormones combined with lack of sleep a wonderful thing?? I think I am still having them and Emma is almost a year old. lol It seems like it always takes a few weeks to really get on a schedule and feel halfway normal. I know around that 6 week mark things should start seeming a lot better. Praying for you all.

Well, I am glad to know that I am not the only one obsessed with making sure the waffle pillow makes it from room to room with me! :) Thanks for the idea with the bath Michelle! And Megan... I don't think I'll be as brave as you and carry it into any restraunts! :)
