As many of you know, Blake and I have been without sleep for almost 4 weeks now. On July 13 I went into the hospital at 9pm and was induced that evening. We spent the entire night awake since I waited until about 5.00am to get the epidural so that I could get past the first few centimeters of dialation. We went from that night to the first night with Riley so there was little sleep there and there has been little sleep since then!
About once a week we have gotten 6 or 7 hours(broken among feedings of course) but have averaged 3 or 4 the other 6 nights of the week. It seems that Riley has not enjoyed her cradle. Or her swing. Or her bouncy seat. Or her car seat. Yeah... I think that is about everything that we have tried. The only times she has slept 3 hours straight has been when she has laid in bed with Mommy and Daddy, which means no deep sleep for us!
Desperate, we made a trip to Babies R Us tonight to walk the store and buy anything that looked worthy of a try! This is what we came home with...
It swings back and forth instead of forward/backward to mimic the way you would swing your baby to comfort them. It cradles them. It vibrates. It plays music, heartbeat, or rain... It was something we have joked about being completly over the top time and time again. But you got to do what you got to do! :) Pray for us! We put her in it after putting it together and she was asleep with no tears in 5 minutes! Lets hope that it goes that well tonight...
