Homemade Ranch Dressing

I have always been a little picky about ranch dressing. Not a fan of Kraft or Wishbone, but LOVE the stuff you often find at buffets like Golden Coral or Ryans. Not kidding.

I ran across the Pioneer Woman's ranch dressing recipe and knew I had to try it. We don't buy Ranch anymore. Seriously. Every week or 2, I make a batch and even our children love it! Its always a bonus to be able to find a way to use all these herbs I have growing in pots on our back porch as well!

I only add about 1 teaspoon of finely chopped parsley.

The I throw in 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped dill.

The 1 tablespoon of chopped chives.

Finely mince 1 clove of garlic.
ONLY 1 CLOVE!
Just believe me. :)

Take a little course kosher salt and sprinkle osme on the garlic.
I ended up using about 1/3 of the amount in the photo above.
Take a fork and work the salt into the garlic.
You want it to be broken down and sort of a paste like consistency.

Next, add 1 cup of mayo and 1/2 cup of sour cream.
These are 2 of my favorite things in the world!

The final ingredient I add is milk.
I have used buttermilk before and it is wonderful, but I NEVER have a reason to buy it and you don't use enough for me to justify it.
So I just add plain ole' skim milk.
It doesn't add extra flavor, but turns the thick mixture into a liquid.
Ok, all that to say, milk works totally fine.

You can add as little or as much milk as you want.
I add a little milk almost everytime I use it because it seems to thicken up after only a few hours in the fridge.

Homemade Ranch and Homemade Salsa are staples in our fridge.
Not because I am so super mom who can magically whip them out of my back pocket, but because once you taste them you just can't go back! :)

ENJOY!

Hello Ring Family,

I've been googling a copycat recipe for Ryan's Ranch Dressing for the last few months. It sounds as though I'm as picky as you when it comes to good ranch. Does this recipe taste like the real deal?

I love this recipe and honestly have become such a snob I don't order Ranch anymore! :) We always have a mason jar in our fridge of homemade ranch.

Some people are busy. What drives you blog people not to put the essential information first? Do you read news and not get the essentials first? Alot of pictures when your time could have been better spent posting a composite recipe. Your page is not even worth bookmarking. Have no idea if your recipes is any good and you've made it worthless to try to find out.
